Tomorrow is the big 10th Anniversary Lan hosted by one of XboxOttawa's original creators. A lot of shit is going to happen tomorrow, but one thing that won't happen (as the Escapist Magazine once said, and I paraphrase) is you won't see anyone get killed because a soft rubber traffic cone hit them.
You aren't going to see a thousand pound Spartan floating down the river. You most certainly aren't going to see someone return a flag from 30 feet away without touching it or ever coming near it. You won't see someone take 4 grenades to the face and not die. You definitely will not see someone pump 3 up close shotgun blasts into someone's throat, only to die when they take one half-assed melee in the shoulder. You won't see any swipe sniping, and I fucking guarantee you won't see anyone fall a couple of hundred feet and be fine. No one is going to fucking duel-wield, no one is going to fly a banshee, no one is going to be forced to ride shotgun with the flag because they can't drive the the fucking warthog and above all else, no one is going to fucking sword whore. There will be no bullshit at this Lan because it's a Halo 1 Lan, and we will not be playing any multiplayer game that uses that sorry excuse of an engine that went and fucked the whole Halo series. Halo, not Spraylo. Halo, not Meleo. As Master Shake once said, "There can be only One". In this case, specifically there is only Halo 1. Original. For the Xbox. In breath taking 480p. System linked.
I hope everyone who can attend tomorrow has a good time, I know I will.
Not far away now. Single player looks awesome, same physics engine, now in HD. If only they'd left the multiplayer too. Either way, can't wait to see Randall Glass blow a warthog over the arch on the beach.
Tommy Tallarico, video game industry veteran, is bringing VGL to Ottawa. Video Games Live immerses you in music from your favourite games, put on by the industry for the fans. It's a musical performance by a symphony orchestra with a light show and game visuals including interactive segments with the audience. It's on at the Civic Center this Friday so check it out!
