6 more years of Halo

So Bungie has at least 6 more years of Halo content planned. Wow. I don't know if that's a good thing. Info from

Speaking to USA Today, Frank O'Connor, creative director for Microsoft's Halo division 343 Industries, has revealed plans are in place which define what is coming in the Halo franchise for at least the next six years. "We do have a plan that goes out at least six years," said O'Connor. "Eventually, it will become very apparent that there is a plan for the way the canon all ties together and the way the comic books and the novels all tie together." What exactly is in store isn't fully known. The only game currently on the horizon is Halo: Reach, a prequel to the first Halo game. O'Connor says the game "is a chronological prequel but it is not a prequel in the directions the Star Wars prequels were to the (original) movies." "It will cover events in and around the planet Reach." A Halo movie has also been on the cards for several years now, although the project is currently on hold. O'Connor says it's all about ensuring they "pick the right time and the right partner". But what of Master Chief, the iconic soldier who helped make the franchise so popular in the first place. O'Connor believes he will return. "I think that (his) fate, Cortana's fate and the identity of that giant, dark planet at the ending (on the game's hardest skill level) that's a spoiler are probably big mysteries that would be irritating if they were just cliffhangers," said O'Connor.

Team Fortress 2So one of the game favourites from last year was TF2, and even though it was released in the fall of 07, its still going strong into the summer of 09. The two main reasons for this are simple. 1)The game is clearly fun for a lot of people. 2) The developer (Valve) has been updating and adding more content to this game to keep it in the spotlight. The "Meet The ..." videos have been a big success, and it appears that Valve will drag out the updates for each class as long as they can to keep interest always at a high. This, along with regular sales of TF2 and the Orange box, have kept this gem in the spotlight. Check out some Team Fortress 2 stats or check it out online yourself.

Left 4 Dead box artThink of all the games you would play if they were all free. Just look at all the little flash games we play online cause they are easy and free. Buying games at the store has always been expensive and the purchase price of games always weighs in when deciding if a game is worth it or not. Do you buy it or rent it or borrow from a friend? Whats a game worth? I read a great article where the President of Valve talks about overpriced games, how Steam works and how the recent price drop of L4D increased sales by 3000% and it really reiterates how in a recession or not, the price of games is really important in gamers decision making.
